Subscribed but no products or email forms

Good morning

I've noticed in my audience list quite a few 'subscribed' entries with not products and they did not appear in the 'email' tag (which I use on the email signup) or with the course I've just started advertising the last couple of weeks (FB ads and Google ads... I'm experimenting).

Can I assume these are abandoned cart signups? I mean I noticed in my analytics a few 'add-to-cart' metrics, with no associated purchase, so I assume they started the process of entering their email and confirming 'receiving' email, but didn't go through with the purchase.

Are my assumptions correct, and is there a mechanism for tagging a partially completed purchase?

Are there any best practices for communicating via the platform with such signups (if my assumptions are correct)?
