Hello, last week I received some excellent advice on setting up this Advent thing! Thank you! Today, I'm drafting all the emails, but I'm still uncertain how best to provide a one-stop page where people who join after 1st December can catch up with the content.
Here's my latest plans, and I'd love some feedback on what would work best, from my perspective AND my subscribers:
PLAN A
I create a hidden PRODUCT i.e. a course with individual lessons for each day
I set every lesson to PREVIEW
I HIDE every lesson and all I have to do each day is remember to go in and UNHIDE
I share the direct link to a simple
productSALES page and add a contents list - and because everything is set to preview, everyone can view - without a log inAt the end of the challenge (or end of January, whatever I've told people) I can take OFF the PREVIEW so the only way to view everything is to PURCHASE THE COURSE (!)
I'm pretty sure this is what Marie suggested, but it's taken me this long to work it out in my own mind ๐
PLAN B
Create a hidden PAGE on my site, where I upload each day's videos in real time, when we get to that date.
Downside: I have to remember to edit the page, upload the video, publish...Bleurgh.
Upside: everything is on one page, and I can give out the link within the daily emails and no further sign up is needed
I hadn't thought of Plan A when I first wrote this
Would this work????
Later, I can create the PRODUCT i.e. a course - and at the very end, I can tell people if they want to keep the challenge beyond the end of December (or January, I think) then they can purchase it and PAY ME (!) to keep access.
This avoids people needing to 'click/buy' and log in to a free version of the course to catch up on missed days (not everyone has an account already, they're literally just adding their name to my mailing list and I'm tagging them for the Advent challenge).
I might make a few ยฃยฃ for my time (might not, but it's worth a punt)
PLAN C
I go ahead and create a free PRODUCT i.e. a course and people can log in (and register an account, set a password etc) to access the course and view any videos they've missed.
On the plus side, this gets people to register an account, making it easier next time I promote a course - they're already in the system.
On the down side, it's a barrier to looking - they may not want to create an account
I then don't monetise this (because to sell access to what's already been a 'free' course, I'd need to duplicate and create a different product, seems very clunky and feels 'off')
