The Rule Book
1. Be kind to one another
This is our most important rule in the Podia Community. Always assume the best intentions when interacting with your fellow members, and treat people with kindness and respect. 🥰
Sometimes things on the internet get heated — before you post or reply, please ask yourself if you would say your post to someone’s face if you were speaking to them in person. We don’t want to be heavy-handed with moderation, but we’ll have to delete posts that have an inflammatory tone.
Also, the Podia team is active in the community answering questions. We understand that sometimes there are frustrations about the platform, bugs, or support issues, and it’s ok to express frustration (politely and through the appropriate channels). But please keep this rule in mind as you do, because this rule applies to everyone — other community members, Podia, and members of the Podia team.
2. Self-promote only in the appropriate topics
You have a business and you need to promote it. That’s cool! But sometimes communities get bogged down with self-promotion, so we’ve created a dedicated topic for you to post your own work.
The “I made this” topic is the place to go if you want to share your stuff. Please refrain from self-promotion elsewhere in the community. 💜
3. No affiliate links
This applies both to Podia affiliate links and affiliate links for other platforms. Anyone found using affiliate links will be removed from the community.
You can promote a blog post with affiliate links in it if you do so in the “I made this” topic, but please don’t use the affiliate links within the community directly. 🙅♀️
4. Support is the best way to get support
The Podia help topic exists for when you’re curious about how other people have set up their Podia accounts, but our support team is still the best way to get support for specific questions.
For account questions, you’ll get the best help by chatting in with our team. We also have an extensive help center. If you don’t see anything in the help docs, please post your question! You can also leave a comment directly on the help doc — it helps us find the gaps in our help desk when you do, and we’d love to help. 😀
5. If you have frustrations with Podia, address them with Podia (not the community)
People come to the community to connect with other small business owners, learn new things, get help, and grow. This is most of the discussion in the community, and it’s great!
Occasionally and infrequently, there have been people expressing frustration with Podia the platform or Podia the company. It’s ok to be frustrated — we would never say otherwise. But we do ask that this space stay as positive as it can; people who don’t share your frustration don’t necessarily want to get a notification about your post in their inbox.
When sharing frustrations, we’d ask you to first check the intent of your post:
Is Podia missing a feature that you want us to have? Sending in a feature request is the best way to get this on the team’s radar.
Does a Podia feature work differently from what you were expecting? A feature request is a great step here as well.
Are you looking for Podia to resolve an issue for you? Our support team is the best way to get specific answers.
If you have an issue, we want to help you with it. Posting in the community doesn’t make it easier or more likely that you get an issue resolved, and it’s usually harder for us to help compared to a 1:1 email or chat communication 🤝.
6. Do not provide unwanted attention to fellow members
We have a zero-tolerance policy against violence, hate speech, and harassment. Anything deemed inappropriate will be handled at the moderators' discretion. If someone asks you to leave them alone, please respect that. Failure to do so may result in removal from the community.
This also applies to seeking members out on alternative platforms, such as social media, unless they’ve expressly given their consent first. We’d absolutely love it if you formed friendships that long outlived us. But we want to make sure everyone feels safe. Always get the greenlight before you reach out to someone off-platform first. 🚦
7. Keep content in the community (or get express permission from the creator)
Maybe you’re having an amazing conversation with another creator and want to take it to social media. Maybe you’ve just seen a super cool website example and want to shout it out to your audience and uplift the creator. Whatever your motivation, make sure everyone is on board first. They may not want to share with the rest of the internet, or it may be an exclusive perk to being in the community itself.
Keeping content exclusive is an important piece of infrastructure for our community, and we’d greatly appreciate your help by not sharing it without permission. 🤗
(One thing to note: The Podia help topic is visible to the public. People must be members to engage with posts, but this allows non-members to find answers to Podia questions when searching on the web. The other discussion threads in the community are only visible to members.)
8. Have fun!
This isn’t a rule, but it’s certainly our hope that you’ll enjoy your time in our community and have tons of fun while you learn and connect to your fellow creators. 😀 Join in on conversations, start your own posts, and settle in for a while – we’re all friends here, and we hope this place becomes as much of a home for you as it is for us. 🏡
We reserve the right to change the rules without notice at any given time to better our community. Thank you for your understanding. 🙏
